Starting a new blog month is always exciting. I never know what the month will bring (heel donations to the usual address please…) and it also feels so fresh to start from scratch again, with an empty folder - no pictures saved yet… so much space for heel-licious new stories. Today it feels even more special though. Not only because I am wearing the most beautiful YSL heels (Autumn|Winter collection available at Paul Warmer - I so wanted something really classic and enduring today) but also because it will be my last day posting in the lovely community of Tumblr.
Yep, my own website Edda loves heels is online as we speak: me, the girl with a passion for heels (read charmingly chaotic), will (with a little help from the fabulous Brandbridge team) finally turn professional. Which means nothing else than still stumbling in high heels and writing about it, but moving on to another platform (Am actually a little nervous, can you tell?).
Dear followers in general: it’s time to change your bookmarks (god knows how that works)…. Dear Tumblr followers: even if I’m waving with one hand (farewell), sporting a hanky in the other (sniff), this is not goodbye:
See you at eddalovesheels.com!

26|07_2012 Amsterdam / St. TropezUnfortunately am not Pablo Picasso, otherwise justifying the fact that I have only been posting blue-ish pictures the past few days would have been a piece of cake (I could simply say I’m in my Blue Period). But the truth is that for once the weather is nice and nothing works better with a little bit of tan than turquois.Even better if you can sport that color scheme on a boat (boat = white, mood = m(y)ellow, sky = blue: perfect combination), ending a lovely summer’s day on the Amsterdam canals. Having complained so much about the weather lately and having wished so badly to be somewhere warm, now finally feel very St. Tropez (aka spray tan model). This so makes up for a day filled with running from one meeting to another (killing my heels and probably two pigeons in my attempt to be on time. Note to self: have bike brakes looked at). Nikki Beach? Overrated. Amsterdam is the new St. Tropez. And hopping on a boat with friends is the coolest thing to do on a hot day.Want to purr into my drink and hug everybody on board (sun definitely boosts the cuddle-hormone), when I realize that I can add a new color to my “feeling so relaxed-spa-summer-water-boat-Pablo Picasso” palette: Red.For sunburn that is.xxxToday’s shoes are AmoteToday’s picture was taken by the lovely Claire de Meijer

25|07_2012 Free TweetyI thought participating in trendy social networking service Twitter would be a piece of cake. Am trendy myself, and as I know how to sport a micro mini, can handle a microwave, and am an ace at using a microphone (karaoke that is), micro blogging just seemed easy. So a year ago I began enthusiastically entertaining my followers with brainy quotes (mainly shoe-gossip as you can imagine). Enthusiastically that is, until I discovered that whenever I try to squeeze my literary outpourings into 140 characters to enlighten the world wide web, I actually lose (!) a follower.Am most likely the only tweeting bird in the whole www following more people and having tweeted more times than the number of followers I actually have. A social network drama! (Don’t tell anyone, its rather embarrassing). Wouldn’t be surprised if I was the cause when “#NewMediaDisaster” is trending one day.And let me have a word about my followers. Dear @Haarimport. Are you aware of the fact that I actually never use a brush? Not sure I can add something to your #Wella world. Dear @Mom2moMSweden: am flattered, but maternity fashion? Me??????? And dear @WOWwalkclub: I am walking in High Heels (read fashionable pain not health and wellness).

20|07_2012 I bought an IslandRichard Branson did it. Leonardo di Caprio tried it (but ran out of booze after 12 hours and sold almost immediately). The glossies are full of it, apparently it’s the new thing to do. So why not give it a try… buy yourself an island and live happily ever after? Or buy two islands, whatever. Hopping is the new staying.Somewhere warm, cosy, colourful and where you can wear a bikini. Totally makes sense to me when in the Netherlands everyone is busy building Noah’s ark (well, tried that one too, but couldn’t fit the Guccis next to the penguins and the zebras felt insulted by my Jimmies (fair enough: they look alike). So my own island seemed like the perfect solution to all recent problems. No rain or weather related problems whatsoever, decent people around asking if they can be of any help, joyful moments when your only concern is which nail polish will match your outfit….and what outfit to wear anyway… So many options, and gosh, just wearing heels would do the job, right? I see tremendous pictures coming up. Me, the sunset, the heels, palm trees. A cocktail in one hand, a shrimp in the other (not talking body parts)….oh life is beautiful!About the island. 17|07_2012 Am exaggerating. Slightly. Maybe. The Dutch summer is officially gone (after having never really started). You can tell, not just by looking at the weather (why didn’t Stella come up with a neoprene jumpsuit as IT-piece for SS2012?), but more so from own mood (miserable, grumpy, overconsumption of chocolate cookies).Plus, when the most anticipated show on TV - the weather report (new “Breaking Bad” anyway) - only uses phrases like: “tomorrow will definitely be better “, “you never know what next week will bring” and: “heeeeeeeey: it’s 18 degrees, why complain?”, you know for sure.Tired of buying wooly jumpers rather than sandals on sale (compulsive online buys also vary from wraps to (another) umbrella and flippers), I may be exaggerating but have decided to kick off “cozy season” instead of constantly moaning (bad for your skin anyway, on the off chance next summer offers you an opportunity to show it..).If anyone is looking for me: I’m the fur ball formerly known as swimsuit goddess, hiding under blankets, heater on. Best featured body part this summer season? Tip of nose, dipped in hot chocolate.I rest my case.xxxToday’s shoes are Jaime Mascaró

13|07_2012 Lucky dayIt’s Friday the 13th (again…it’s the third but luckily also the last one this year) but rather than looking out for black cats crossing the street, am looking forward to see one of my favorite designers today: Melanie Brown.Even when weather god is not acting in my favor, fashion god is: am allowed to pick an outfit of hers for fashion week. Am so excited! With my mission: “When sun won’t shine, I will” in mind, I hit her studio in the Hazenstraat feeling very much the celebrity, trying on especially customized and truly unique couture dresses. Am also totally in awe of her winter collection: it’s all about layers and refined possibilities of combining and wearing clothes in a variety of ways, and includes a leather T as soft as butter that she designed for …ha, must have been me! Would die for it (or rather….stop buying shoes and start saving money now)!Over tea (Melanie is such a charming Brit) we chat about details and vision of her work before browsing her SS collection 2013 which I will be allowed to wear. Did I just say SS 2013??? Feel very Agyness Deyn and utterly privileged. Time flies with this lovely lady, who couldn’t be more passionate about her work and I am eager to take today’s picture.Heading home with a (not so fashionable, but smelling gorgeous) take-out chicken for dinner on one side of my bike, a bag of couture clothes on the other and a festival to go to later on (see you in boots), I think Friday the 13th is just my lucky day.xxxToday’s shoes are Pura Lopez

06|07_2012 Like… really? There are a lot of really exciting things coming up. Other than business meetings (lately ending, not very fashionably, with fire alarms and me fleeing the scene), I have a shoot coming up (photographer-to-be became photographer-to-be-the-one) and am very excited and curious to see how it goes (not to mention a little nervous). Fashion week is almost here and with the ticket frenzy having begun long ago, the only question that remains (besides getting a ticket at all) is whether I’ll be sitting front row or not.For both occasions outfits need to be chosen, hairdressers bothered, heels polished and not having signed up for Weight Watchers earlier this year regretted. And what am I doing the first day in weeks I actually have some spare time? Like… really? Am afraid the fashionable (heel) life starts with being able to at least walk IN to the walk-in closet without being attacked by dust and scattered clothes (that seem to have developed a life of their own).So a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do……Wonder if moving wildly to David Bowies “Let’s dance” with a vacuum cleaner could be falsely interpreted.Pole dancing anyone?xxxToday’s shoes are Pedro Garcia

04|07_2012 *ugh*!!!Thought that we were past that whole tiring discussion about UGG boots. Haven’t seen them in a while (will file for warning sticker in shop windows still displaying them: “This shop window contains scenes that some viewers may find disturbing”)… and was actually pretty positive that by now everyone has understood that sheep on feet (no matter how comfortable it may be) are only cool if you are a) Alexa Chung, or b) a 20-year-old Californian beach babe…10 years ago.Other than that: *ugh*!!!I was mortified to find out that apparently the horror isn’t over yet. This time *ugh* is back in the form of  what’s supposed to be a cute key fob, which wouldn’t even be cool if it came in a silver and blue box (read Tiffany). Why would you consciously make sure that everybody knows without even seeing you sporting the actual boots that you are built for comfort not for style?Fashion police, please investigate: to my dismay the case is not closed, and the crime scene needs to be cleared up. 02|07_2012 Pizza, Pasta and Arrivederci!Be honest. How many great Spanish designers do you know? Quickly now, quickly! None? OK. Favorite Spanish dish apart from tapas and paella (cojones do not count!)? Hmmmm. One more: favorite Spanish drink apart from sangria that doesn’t give you a headache? Yeah. There you go. But soccer, SOCCER the Spanish can play, causing more than a headache for everyone supporting Italy yesterday: a meltdown.Gathered with a whole crowd, watching the game, having Heineken (uuuups Dutch) and supporting favorite team shoe-wise (Italian flag anyone: what comes first: green stripe ore red?) obviously didn’t help in getting Balotelli and Co “al arrabiata” rather then “al dente”.Have never seen so many Vespas on my way home looking really sad.And my shoes (bought in Rome back then and pulled out of the closet especially) within 94 minutes somehow shrank from a size 7 (read great expectations) to……zero. So, may I just quote my friend Laura on this: The Italians should stick to what they do best: pizza, pasta, wine, fashion and shoes. (OK, added the last two myself….. :-)But fair enough: Corso Como, Linguini, Stefano and Domenico, Barolo - you will remain my number one anyway. In lifestyle. Arrivederci!xxxToday’s shoes are Déssai

01|07_2012 Happy Birthday blog!Half a year ago, totally unprepared, without any concept whatsoever (still dizzy from celebrating New Years Eve), I quickly arranged a picture with one of my lovelies (read heels), the leftovers from the night before (Moët obviously) and lots of party glitter: my first post.I remember as if it were yesterday, sitting with my friends Mamma Ulli and Pappa Stefan earlier in 2011 to tell them about my idea to write an everyday blog about my heels, and what’s happening while wearing them. Without their encouraging words (“If anyone should do it, it’s you”, and “I would totally read it”) I would probably never have gotten my (amazing, but) lazy bum out of bed, in my shoes, and in front of a camera.183 photos and stories later, I now have an editor (best editor I could ever wish for), an advertising company (Brandbridge, I love you!), busy working out my own website, blowing my mind with business ideas, and a photographer (who doesn’t know yet that he will be shooting me the upcoming weeks :-)).Not to mention every cool shoe store in town on speed dial. And still: 182 (not counting today) heels waiting in my closet to be worn: 182 stories to go, written by life.Reason enough to get the Guccis out and celebrate.Happy (1|2 year) Birthday blog!xxxToday’s shoes are Gucci

01|07_2012 Happy Birthday blog!

Half a year ago, totally unprepared, without any concept whatsoever (still dizzy from celebrating New Years Eve), I quickly arranged a picture with one of my lovelies (read heels), the leftovers from the night before (Moët obviously) and lots of party glitter: my first post.

I remember as if it were yesterday, sitting with my friends Mamma Ulli and Pappa Stefan earlier in 2011 to tell them about my idea to write an everyday blog about my heels, and what’s happening while wearing them. Without their encouraging words (“If anyone should do it, it’s you”, and “I would totally read it”) I would probably never have gotten my (amazing, but) lazy bum out of bed, in my shoes, and in front of a camera.

183 photos and stories later, I now have an editor (best editor I could ever wish for), an advertising company (Brandbridge, I love you!), busy working out my own website, blowing my mind with business ideas, and a photographer (who doesn’t know yet that he will be shooting me the upcoming weeks :-)).
Not to mention every cool shoe store in town on speed dial.

And still: 182 (not counting today) heels waiting in my closet to be worn: 182 stories to go, written by life.
Reason enough to get the Guccis out and celebrate.
Happy (1|2 year) Birthday blog!
